Jo Se-ho apologizes to Park Mi-sun over breast cancer event controversy

TV host Jo Se-ho issued a public apology to comedian Park Mi-sun, who is currently undergoing treatment for breast cancer, after coming under fire for attending a controversial breast cancer awareness event. On the Nov. 12 episode of tvN’s “You Quiz on the Block,” where Park appeared on television for the first time in about one year following her diagnosis, Jo bowed his head and said, “I feel sorry to see you again after a long time. I want to sincerely apologize for my recent participation in a certain event.” He added, “I have been cautious about meeting you since then. I am using this moment to reflect more deeply.” The controversy began when Jo attended the “World Breast Cancer Day” event hosted by fashion magazine W Korea on Oct. 15. Although the campaign marked its 20th year and featured high-profile celebrities including members of BTS, aespa’s Karina and IVE’s Jang Won-young, many online users criticized the event for being out of touch with its stated cause.
